Why do you love this image?
I love all kinds of images but I am particularly drawn to the “light, airy” images…especially with newborns. I love how the image is light with just a splash of color thrown in. It screams delicate to me.

What were your settings with this image?
ISO 400, F/3.2, ss 1/250 using natural light and my Nikon d300

What type of Photography do you specialize in and why?
I love doing Newborn Photography. There’s just something about those perfect little bodies and cute facial expressions. The newborn period flies by so quickly that many parents miss it due to lack of sleep and the fogginess of those first few weeks. By the time the images are ready for parents their newborn has already changed and grown.

If you weren’t a photographer, what other profession would you like to pursue?
I am currently a nurse. I’ve been working with newborns in L&D or postpartum for the past 13 years. I get my baby fix through both my photography and my daily job. I couldn’t ask for a better life!

A good portrait means ….
one in which people feel an emotion when looking at it. I love to photograph babies and I love it even more when mothers see the image and get teary eyed. I remember what I wanted to capture when my girls were babies and I’m happy to create that same type of capture for others.

What 3 word describe you? Or describe your style?
authentic, meaningful, inspired

What do you wish you would have known when you were first staring?
That images don’t have to be technically perfect to be absolutely adored and treasured by others

If you could be invisible for one day with your camera…
I would love to get some images of my 13 year old. She has many pictures of herself that her friends take but she won’t let me take any pictures of her. I would love to photograph a “day in the life” of her.

What is a random thing about you?
I won a trip to Sydney, Australia from a radio station to see REM in concert!
